Do Online Education Classes Really Work? Sorry, but the answer is yes, after eliminating obvious scamming and frauds. Welcome to the rise of the virtual student, teacher and classroom. Virtual to me is a reality that doesn’t exist. Yet acts and performs as though it does. If you wanted a:
Just look on line and find the thousands of offerings our daily life has been impacted by more job demands, bottom line accounting, and quality of life issues. In 1920 the gold watch and pension plan was accepted as the due for working for a single employer. These days the employer and employee don’t think they will be with each other for three years. What was normal is now abnormal. Take your 401-K and move on!
Wasted time for travel to meetings and education classes. Today’s employer wants lower costs and more efficiency. The employee just wants to stay home in comfort and easily assimilate the education necessary. Education can take place away from the class room and it can be easily measured!
I have used the Internet to mentor students regarding SAT and GED. A personal computer is an excellent drill master, a multimedia teacher, efficient measurer of quizzes and knowledge. Unstated is the fact that these classes are built to get the student to perform. The student performance is passing the class, certification, or diploma requirements.
Methodology :
- Select the tool
- Explain the need for the tool
- Demonstrate the tool
- Explain the tool
- Have student use the tool
Student’s performance with the tool will be measured.
The transfer of skill and/or information between teacher and student may be demonstrated by the student’s performance. The premise is that the students only has time to do it once and must be correct. They don’t have time to spend sitting in class rooms. They have a job, family, and personal interests to pursue. No one wants their time wasted by what doesn’t work!
Brick and mortar class rooms are being found wanting. Trick question for you. Would you rather have a teacher or a mentor explaining something to you? Online education classes may be either or both. The mentoring approach is gaining in popularity over teaching. It is better to use what works then to explain why it is not working!
Intellectual capital is being built from what works and is being well guarded from potential competitors. Organizations and people who know how to do things have a competitive advantage over others to don’t or don’t know that they don’t know! Remember that students actually chose to spend and or attend on line classes. I don’t desire to be educated to academia standards; but to be educated for my needs and requirements.
New means of education and facilities are being used by the current generation and being adopted by an older generation that wants the benefits!
