Dentistry As A Career Option
A Dentist is the one who takes care of our teeth, gums, and supporting bones of the mouth. He helps us in keeping our teeth and gums healthy. These health professionals also treat the diseased teeth and gums. Dentistry, a great career option, includes the study of mouth, teeth, gums and other hard and soft tissues of the oral cavity. A Dentist provides the dental care and corrections that are required for the patients.
He can also change the appearance of the patients through a large number of cosmetic dental procedures. An individual, who wants to build his career in dentistry, has to complete his 10 + 2 with science with Physics, Chemistry and Biology. Once he qualifies class 12th, he can appear for the medical or dental combined entrance examination that is conducted at National and State level.
After qualifying the entrance exam, one can take admission in dentistry program i.e. Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS). This program is conducted by many Top dental colleges of India. It prepares students for making one’s career in dentistry by combining clinical studies with basic as well as advanced dental sciences. Once an individual learns the basic concepts of the subject in the institutes skills laboratories, he can start his own practice by opening his clinic. The salient features of BDS program is excellent innovative pedagogy, patient-centered approach to clinical care, student-centered curriculum, strong conceptual framework and application based learning.
